Breweries are making appearances all over the United States, and this is no exception in the High Country. On this Feature Friday, we will be highlighting all the amazing breweries that the High Country has to offer.
In the heart of Boone, there are two notable breweries. Appalachian Mountain Brewery, more commonly called AMB to the locals, and Lost Province Brewing Co. AMB highlights the importance of great beer and great causes. They build their company around giving back to the community and the land while also brewing some incredible beers and ciders. Lost Province Brewing Co. is nestled in downtown Boone and they focus on creating unique beers of differing flavors and taste profiles. They offer bar food and wood fired pizzas that help complement their beers while also giving back to the community by promoting local bands and attending local charity events. A third and upcoming brewery also located in the Boone area is Booneshine. This is a microbrewery that is located inside of Basil’s Fresh Pasta and Deli, however they are starting to make their mark in the high country as they continue to distribute.
Over in Banner Elk there is a brewery called Flat Top Brewing Company. They are a newer brewery, however they have already made a huge impact. The always carry four year round brews, four seasonal brews, and smaller batched for a limited time. Their hops and water is always naturally sourced making it a true beer of the High Country.
Over in Beech Mountain, they have their own brewery called Beech Mountain Brewery. The most notable part of this brewery is how convenient it is or all the skiers, snowboarders, bikers, and any other resort customers. Don’t forget in the summer to check out 5506′ Skybar! You ride on the chairlift and drink beer; you cannot get any better than that. They have an excellent opportunity to showcase their beers to a very diverse group of people from all over the state and the U.S.
Blowing Rock is home to Blowing Rock Brewing Company which is housed in the Blowing Rock Ale House. This unique spot offers the best of both worlds: A place to drink and a place to sleep after having one too many.
Yet another brewery nestled in the Plumtree area is Blind Squirrel Brewery. They have a unique atmosphere and logo featuring their squirrel as the centerpiece.
Finally, tying it all up is Boondocks Brewing Tap Room & Restaurant located in West Jefferson. They have a strong focus on North Carolina brews and offer over 30 different selections. They also feature smaller batches of micro brewed selections that give them their unique flare.
The best part about having local breweries is the opportunity to showcase them at any of your events, from fundraisers to weddings. These can be used in favors, items for welcome bags, or a customized bar selection for your event. Not only will you have incredible brews and ciders, but you will be showcasing local North Carolina brews to all of your attendees. I urge you to try one or all of these amazing breweries out some day, and maybe you will find your new favorite beer!
